Dreamweaver Runtime Error

I have Dreamweaver installed in my laptop. I use it frequently to design and develop web applications.

But today… it scares me to hell.

The program failed to load as usual.

It shows up this error everytime I try to launch the program.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Program:C\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Dreamweaver.exe.
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application’s support team for more information.

I restarted my laptop a few times but the problem still persist.

What’s next?

I assume some of the files might be corrupted. So, I went to control panel–add/remove programs and uninstall Dreamweaver.

I kept a copy of the installer in my machine. Reinstalled.

Damn. The problem is still there. I can’t get into the program. It terminates by itself after showing the error.

I googled and hope to find some solutions. None of them worked.

So what did I do?

I uninstalled the program again. But this time, I ran the installer and select the option to remove from there. I leave the uninstall options as it is (Do not remove preferences or configuration files for any users is ticked by default).

Upon completion, I did a fresh installation into a different a directory. Instead of C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Dreamweaver.exe, I created a new folder… C:\dreamweaver.

Guess what? Dreamweaver is back and to my surprise, all the site settings is still there.

Woohoo!!
